Odense, Denmark is the birthplace of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, who wrote the Little Mermaid (among other tales). Odense is the 3rd largest city in Denmark and started off as a settlement 4,000 years ago. The city is small and cozy with plenty of landmarks like Odense Castle, H.C.
