The CK in eCKsplorer

New Zealand road trip in December 2018.

Hey there, call me Chris, or CK for short. I’m an American ex-pat living in Uppsala, Sweden at the moment. When I'm not working in a laboratory as a chemist, I'm exploring with my camera. No matter where I find myself, I always try to capture the perfect landscape and love the adventure it takes to find it.

As a part time traveler, I have been fortunate to see some amazing places, capture beautiful images and meet wonderful people along the way. I like efficiency (I'm a scientist, remember?) and with that I have dedicated this blog to the adventurer who likes a plan, without sacrificing spontaneity, and is also on a part-time schedule.

Here, you will see a glimpse of what I see from the other side of the lens. You’ll also find maps of the routes I’ve taken (walking and road trips), photo locations, and EXIF data for the photographs displayed. You can also click on most of my bolded entries and be taken to the official website of that specific attraction.

Everywhere I go, I carry my Canon with me in the hopes of capturing amazing moments that are meaningful to me. You will almost always find me behind my camera instead of in front of it (so these shots of me will be rare). This journey and idea for a blog has been years, and trips, in the making. In my own search for tips and routes to travel, I found very few blogs that weren’t from the perspective of full-time travelers.

I used to travel with almost no flexibility but after moving to Europe a few years ago, I’ve realized that efficiency and spontaneity can compliment each other and that the majority of travelers are not on year-long journeys rather, quick holidays. It’s in my nature to research and plan to see the things that I’m most interested in on a trip; however, now I have learned to build in time for the unexpected adventure for the perfect photo and/or experience.

I hope that the experiences I share can benefit readers/fellow travelers/aspiring photographers in ways that will enhance their holiday and travel spirit.

Furthermore, if you like some of the photos on my website, you can actually buy prints of them on my Etsy website here. If there is a photo that you like that doesn’t appear in my Etsy store, drop me an email and I can add it in a timely manner!

**Note: I have never accepted guest posts for my blog but I am open to it. If you would like to pitch a blog post idea with me, just shoot me an email. I would prefer articles of over 1000 words, your own photographs/videos, detailing your own experiences, and not appearing on any other website.
